The Kaligian Collection
The Kaligian Collection is my first quilt series. I made them for a friend and her family. Each one contains fabrics that are included in the others. The quilts tell a story about the family, their owners, and the owner’s interests or personalities.
On the Move – the owner of this quilt likes purple, dance, and is very active.
School Daze – the sister who owns this one loves fishing. She lives near the New England seacoast so her quilt has lots of fish on it.
The Hood – masks are a favorite for this member of the Kaligian family.
The Eclectic – Mom and Dad own this one. It contains images that represent them as well as their three daughters. Mr. Kaligian worked for a shoe company so some of the quilts have shoes on them. When one of the girls was little, Mrs. K had to hold her hand to get her to go to sleep at night. The Eclectic quilt has two large hands in the corners to represent those long nights of handholding. The family traveled to South America regularly and Mr. K loves cars. You’ll see cars, South American images, fish, stars, masks, and active people on the four quilts.
